Children are busy little creatures who often respond well to a little structure when it comes to activities. So why not give your child a helping hand by creating functional spaces in their very own bedroom?
Zoning is a way of ensuring that no space is wasted and also helps hone your child’s organisational skills. But the best bit? You don’t need oodles of space to do it!
Zone out
A child’s life is usually compartmentalised into three main areas - sleep, work and play. With this in mind, their bedroom should naturally follow suit.
Whatever size room your ch..
There’s no need to spend thousands on new furniture or luxurious wallpaper to make your child’s bedroom spring to life. A few simple tweaks will do all that for you.
It won’t hurt to start with a blank canvas so before you embark on a major shopping spree, get rid of any unwanted clothes, toys, bedding and general paraphernalia. Once you’ve bagged it all up and shipped it out, you’ll be ready to bring in the new!
Sumptuous fabrics and striking patterns could be all it takes to transform a neutrally painted bedroom into a cosy and welcoming space. Or a string of twinkling fairy lights ove..
Making beds isn’t difficult. It’s just one more job that needs to be done - and the earlier each day, the better.
However, the simplicity of bed making renders it the type of activity that can help promote independence in a child and as such, is often the first ‘chore’ they will learn.
The smallest achievements can mean a lot to a child, especially when they come with heaps of praise and a huge sense of pride as a result!
Many children savour such attention and will jump at the chance of impressing their parents with a neatly made bed, while others may flatly refuse to have a go.

With so many ideas available for girls’ bedroom design on television, in magazines and on social networking sites, you may find yourself overwhelmed with possibilities.
But if you think of your daughter’s room as a blank canvas upon which their growing personality can be expressed through colour, fabric and style, it may help to narrow your options a little.
Involving your child in the decision-making process can mean the project takes a little longer than intended but at least there will be no complaints upon the ‘big reveal’!
We have put together a few ideas to get your designer..

The summer holidays are finally here so let’s hope the sunshine puts in a lengthy appearance too!
No more school runs - or daily ‘dodge the traffic warden’. Countless lazy lie ins (for the children at least…) and the prospect of a holiday in the sun if you’re lucky. Sounds good doesn’t it?
We all need to re-charge our batteries now and again and even though work may carry on when studying stops, at least the stress is a little less when school is out for the summer.
We’re sure that you have lots of fabulous activities and day trips lined up but for those of you who don’t, we’ve got ju..

Easter is a time for new beginnings, not least because spring has sprung and our long winter hibernation is almost over!
As lovely as it is to see the sun streaming through the windows once more, it can also be ‘enlightening’ as to how much titivating may be required in the home... All those little scuff marks and handprints on the children’s bedroom walls may go unnoticed in the dull days of winter. Just pop the lamps and fairy lights on and hey presto, they magically disappear. Summer on the other hand, takes no prisoners!
So with this is mind, now could be the time to start ..
Half term is upon us and thousands of delighted children have taken to our parks, cinemas, shops and streets. Everywhere is packed to the rafters! It’s a short but sweet school holiday peppered with halloween preparations and weather-permitting excursions which, more often than not, result in mud getting somewhere it shouldn't...
I love how children live in the moment, soaking up the autumn rays, revelling in frosty breath and fireworks. If only mums and dads could do the same! You see, since becoming a parent I have realised that half term isn't just a little jolly to break up the season. ..
October is a FANGtastic and SPOOKtacular month which certainly raises our spirits (and those of a few departed souls too).
I know the month has barely begun but the shops are already full of fancy dress regalia, dangly cobwebs and suitably orange-clad aisles. If only we could just get on with enjoying this BOOtiful month instead of being reminded that the dreaded horrors of Halloween await!
I’m not a huge fan of this overblown occasion if I’m honest. Traipsing around in the dark on what you can guarantee will be a wet and miserable October night is not what I would call fun. A..
The school holidays are almost over for many of us...Is that a collective sigh of relief I can hear? Yes, it certainly has been a tough few weeks, juggling work and childcare whilst trying to entertain a rabble of over-excited children. Surely there should be a reality show for this kind of stuff?
Anyway, just a few days more to suffer the trail of grass through the length of the house and those endless ‘surprises’ left in the craziest places. Banana skin in the washing machine anyone? Of course, these things will still go on I’m sure, just less often once our children are safely back..

The summer holidays present the perfect opportunity to catch up with yourself and sort out the probable chaos of your child’s room. There is certainly some satisfaction to be had from getting organised, ship shape and ready for the onset of the autumn term, especially when your mantra is ‘out with the old and in with...nothing whatsoever’!
You see, the great thing about a summer clear out, as opposed to a pre-Christmas one, is that you know the space you create won't be filled with more ‘stuff’ that you’ll struggle to find a home for in a few weeks time.
So where should you st..
