If your child left nursery this year, I do feel your pain. It was a few years ago now that I stood outside those gates and shed a tear as little Martha trounced out for the very last time.
With a spring in her step and high hopes in her heart, she never looked back, not even once.
I love how Children don’t have a jot of sentimentality in their little hearts, don’t you?!
It was the parents who had big, blobby tears falling down their faces as they mourned the end of babyhood. For me, it was also the notion that those wide-eyed girls and boys didn’t have a clue what’s to come. Namely, the trials and tribulations of life. Oh how we just want our little ones to stay little and innocent forever!
So there is an element of sadness yes, but this is a very exciting time too. Not least because there are uniforms, shoes and lunch boxes to buy. And show me a child who doesn’t love a new lunch box! Take a look at our personalised range, which go well with our swim bags, stationery and water bottles too. Never underestimate the need for labelling anything that’s taken into school. If those belongings don’t have a name on, you might as well kiss them goodbye forever!
So now you’ve got those essentials ticked off your list, it’s a good time to think about uniforms and shoes. It's always better to do this before the summer holidays if possible...but seeing as the holidays have already begun, get yourself down there today! Leave it too late and you’ll be swallowed up by crowds of frantic parents. You will need at least 90% in your phone battery, drinks, snacks and an emergency flare for good measure. Trust me, I've been there, never again. The earlier the better, do it now, do it today, I urge you!
Getting ready for school when the holidays have barely begun is one of those tasks that you probably won’t relish at all. However, once it’s done you can rest easy and get on with the business of enjoying the summer - as well as looking forward to the next exciting chapter in your little one’s life. So dry those tears because it will be exciting, I promise….
