Working at Little Lucy Willow is ever such a lovely job. Bathed in beautiful pastel shades, surrounded by gorgeous fabrics draped over fabulous beds…it’s not so much a job as a downright pleasure!
Except…we don’t spend an awful lot of time ooh-ing and ahh-ing over new furniture designs or bedspreads and we certainly don’t get much chance to sit down on said beds – inviting though they are!
No, we are on our feet, talking to customers and when we’re not doing that we are in the office on the phone, taking orders, answering queries and generally chatting about children’s furniture.
| 9.30am | After dropping the girls off at school I drive straight to work. The showroom is lit, the cushions plumped and we’re ready and raring to go, after a cup of coffee that is…

| 10am | The showroom opens its doors. We welcome our customers and start talking furniture.

| 10.30am | All the previous afternoon’s accessories orders are sent on the carrier with Bob.

| 12noon | Lunchtime! Down to the deli it is for something wholesome, delicious and maybe a little bit naughty too! |
| 1pm | Discuss that day’s sales and any queries that need to be resolved. Chase up the factory and delivery company to make sure they are on schedule. |
| 2pm | All the morning’s accessories orders are carefully wrapped and sent on the carrier with the lovely Bob. |
| 3pm | A quick coffee is in order if the showroom is quiet. If I’m lucky, I can catch up on some paperwork too. On certain days, I leave at this time to pick up the girls from school.

| 4pm | The last surge of customers happens about now, as school is out.
|
| 5pm | The showroom closes but the phone lines are open for another hour. Between calls I do a little bit of business planning and have a look for new products and accessories to stock. I love, love, love doing this.

| 6pm | Before I leave I sweep the showroom and tidy the beds, smoothing bedspreads and rearranging accessories if it suits. I like things to be just right for the morning so I can start the day with a clear head and a spring in my step!
