In the movie of your life, who would you like to play you?
Harrison Ford
Which song gets you dancing?
Anything with an electric guitar solo in it.
What’s the best decision you ever made?
To move to Lancashire as opposed to a little flat in Gloucestershire. I just wish it was a little closer to my family.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I had no idea and still don’t know now!
If you could give one piece of advice to a young person today, what would it be?
Clichéd I know but ‘make the most of everything’. As I approach my mid 40’s time really does just fly, frustratingly.
If you could change anything in your life what would it be?
To know more and have experienced more about lots of things. For example I wish I had travelled more when I had the chance, experienced different jobs rather than persisting with boring ones in my early twenties, pushed myself to learn and understand about more subjects. I am more interested in things now than I ever was back then.
If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would you be and why?
He’s not quite what you would call a celebrity but I would like to be the entrepreneur, Elon Musk. Highly intelligent and involved with lots of different and exciting things to make the world a better place. A remarkable man.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
There have been a few but I do remember fondly (back in my early twenties I hasten to add), whilst at work, receiving a call from friends one Friday morning asking if I wanted to go to Dublin for an epic weekend. When I said, “Yes, when?” they said, “Now, we are outside your office waiting!”. With phone clutched to my ear I stood up and looked out of the window and there they were, 12 of them in a minibus all waving and shouting. I had no spare clothes and no money and worse still I had no holiday leave left. I looked over at my boss with the phone still to my ear and without even thinking, began to say things like “Oh no, really? How is he?, Which hospital is he at?”. I put the phone down and my boss said, “What’s the problem?”. I explained how my uncle had had an accident on his farm and that he’d been taken to hospital (believe me, I am still ashamed…). My boss told me to pack up my things and take the day off to go and visit him! Needless to say it was one of the greatest weekends of my life.
What’s your favourite meal in the whole world?
Prawn cocktail, steak and peppercorn sauce with chips followed by cheese and biscuits with port. You can tell I was brought up in the Berni Inn years.
What is the best present you’ve ever received?
I have to say I have been very lucky throughout my years but I do remember getting particularly excited whilst unveiling a small pool table that I had been longing for. I was 12 years-old.
Which three people would you invite to a dinner party and why?
Elon Musk just to know what is happening next, Bear Grylls so that we could go out and hunt for our dinner and Oliver Reed purely for the entertainment.
