I think we have all said this quite a few times in recent weeks but, as time has gone on, I’ve realized how much I actually don’t want things to go back to the way they were.
Our sense of community is never stronger than during times of difficulty and hardship. Be it helping and supporting each other to recognising and acknowledging those who make a difference to our lives, however small. Our ability to pull together as a nation is something that we should never take for granted. We have all read or listened to remarkable stories of courage, bravery, ingenuity and endeavour. From heart breaking and crushing to heart warming and uplifting, our full spectrum of feelings and emotions have been pushed and tested to their outer most limits.
As difficult and as painful as this period may be let us take heart and comfort in the extraordinary achievements, compassion and togetherness that we have and continue to witness daily.
I hope that when our lives reconvene to some sense of normality we will all continue to do good for each other, for our country and for the world in which we live.
For us, we hope that you will continue to support British industry, workers and products therein - they are the very best in the world. Without you we are nothing and never more do we need you now.
We will of course get through this and my sincere hope is that we will continue and forever be the caring, compassionate and tolerant society that I have been so profoundly moved to witness.
So the next time you raise a glass to the heavens like the Roman's did in offering to the gods a toast to the health of the living, say...."to us"....you deserve it.
Keep safe, keep well and look after each other.
Best wishes,
Louise x
